Basic Crappie Supplies That Every Fisherman Needs

Fishing Hooks – Everyone knows you must have fishing hooks in order to catch any kind of fish but did you know that there are different types of fishing hooks and that some will work better than others. It’s a good idea to stock up on a variety of different types and sizes but when crappie fishing, the smaller hooks work the best. The crappie has a small fragile mouth so they would avoid anything on a large hook. They should always be sharp and in good shape.

Sinkers – The sinker is used to help make your cast go further so you can reach the strike zone without scaring the fish away. They also help the bait to sink to the bottom. They come in many different sizes, shapes and weights.

Swivels – Swivels are used between the bait and line to help keep your line from getting tangled up from the bait twisting around.

Bobbers – These are a neat item that will help alert you when you have a bite. Sometimes it’s hard to tell when the crappies take your bait. The bobber will help out in this area. You do need a variety of sizes and shapes so you can match them up correctly with your other gear.

Bait – When it comes to the bait you need it depends on a variety of different things. If you want to use live bait then you need to pick this up on your way to make sure it’s fresh. However, you can still get a variety of lures ranging in size, color and shapes to have on hand for those days you don’t want to use live bait or for when you run out too early and you’re not ready to go home yet.

Tackle box – Now that you have all the basic supplies, you need something to keep them in. Keeping your supplies organized and arranged in a tackle box not only keeps them in better shape but it also makes it easier to find what you
