How and When to Use Weedless Crappie Jigs

How to Use Weedless Crappie Jigs

Using the weedless crappie jig is pretty easy but there are still some novice anglers that don’t know how to use them correctly. The key to success is learning how to make the weedless crappie jig imitate the movement of the real thing. This is what makes it appear more lifelike and irresistible to the crappies. When using the weedless crappie jig it’s important to put it on the hook the right way.

You need it to go all the way into the jig but don’t let it stick through the other side. If it’s not in all the way, the crappie can easily steal your bait without you ever knowing you had a hit. If it’s all the way through and sticking out the other side, then it’s no longer weedless and the tip of the hook can easily get hung up and struck on the weeds and debris.

Not only do you need to know how to use these jigs correctly but you also need to know which one to choose. The crappie will be attracted to the bait that resembles their natural food source. Therefore, one of the first things that you should do would be to take a few minutes to look around. See which food source is the most abundant in the water during the time you’re there fishing. Choose the bait that resembles this food source first. If this is not producing the results that you would like, then you can begin experimenting with different ones until you find the bait they are drawn to the most. This is why it’s so important to have a good selection with you when you head out on your fishing trips.

Finding the weedless crappie jigs is easy. They will have a variety of these at most any bait shop or retail store. Of course, you always have the option of shopping online where you can often find some really great deals. They will definitely be an asset and something that you would want to add to your tackle box.
