Are there length records for crappie in each state? Could you tell what the longest black crappie record is in Georgia? THANKS, NATE LAVEZZO
You can go to White Crappie State Records for a list of record white crappies in each state. For fish records by species, you can visit the International Game Fish Association, but you do have to register to view the state records. For black crappie records by state and all other species, you can view the stats at landbigfish.com. The site has a list of each fish and each state record. It also tells who caught the fish, the weight, length, location and date of the catch. The state record in length for a black crappie in Georgia is not recoded with a length. It appears that Georgia anglers do not care about length as much as they do about weight. I have searched for the record length, but I did not find any information for Georgia. Minnesota has a record length of 21 inches, which is longer than expectations for a black crappie. I did ask a few anglers what their longest black crappie was and not one could tell me the length, but they could tell me the weight. I would suppose that it depends on where you go and the age of the fish, but you could probably see a 21-inch black crappie in Georgia. I will keep an eye out for this information and if I do find a record that has been authenticated, I will definitely share it. Take a look at some of the records from other states and lengths for some thought about weight and length.
