Do you have any new crappie fishing tricks up your sleeve?

I always have something up my sleeve, but in the case of the crappie, I am still sticking with a jig and a minnow for most places. There are a few places that have better luck with assassins, but for the most part, I use live bait. One thing I can tell you is that you should always get your baitfish from the same water you are fishing. The reason is that the crappies will sometimes be able to tell that the baitfish is not inhabitant of the water. This can affect your entire day of fishing. I am planning some fishing trips this year to a few places I have not been to for a while, so I will be checking into what type of bait is working and the presentation as well. I know that trolling is always a good method, but I am interested in long lining and pitching a jig for crappie fishing. There are anglers that have fishing some specific areas that swear by these methods and I plan to see why. It should be interesting and I can judge for myself if the tactics work. Basically, that is what I have up my sleeve for the coming year. I do plan to do as much crappie fishing as I can since I have a few new recipes I would like to try. I will also tell you how the recipes turn out. In all, I plan to have a good year of fishing for crappies.
