Do you recommend any good crappie fishing guides on Weisse Lake?
I’m guessing you mean Weiss Lake, on the Ga./Al. border? Weiss Lake is a 30,200+ acre hydro-electric impoundment of the Coosa, Chattooga, and Little Rivers offering over 400 miles of shoreline with shallow flats, underwater drop-offs, large areas of submerged timber, deep channels and large coves. This lake is famous for producing 2 – 3 lbs slab crappie. Lake Weiss is considered by most anglers as the “Crappie Capitol of the World”. I live in N. Ga. and fish Lake Weiss quite often. I know a few of the guides on Lake Weiss. If you want a good, memorable trip, you might give Darrel Baker, affectionally known as ‘DJ’, at Lake Weiss Crappie Guides a call at (256)-927-2232. Their website is http://www.weisslakecrappieguides.com/. His e-mail is darrell@weisslakecrappieguides.com. Another prolific guide is Kelly Mathews. It seems he is always on the water with someone! He appears to be a consistent producer. You can reach him at Weiss Lakes Guides, (256)-475-6238. His website is http://www.weisslakeguides.com/contact.html. His e-mail is kelly@weisslakeguides.com. Mark Collins is a very successful guide on Weiss Lake for Crappie, as well as Stripers and Bass. He can be reached at (256)-779-3387. His website is http://www.markcollinsguideservice.com/home.html. Email: mark@markcollinsguideservice.com. And lastly, Jr’s Marina is a full-service outfitter, with a motel, cabins, mobile homes and houses for rent, boat rental/sales and a guide service that employs several good guides. They can be reached at (256) 779-6461. Website: http://www.jrsmarina.com/index.asp. Any one of these should be able to provide you with an unforgetable fishing experience on Weiss Lake. Happy fishing!
