The average size for an adult crappie is from a foot long to twenty
inches long. State records average in the four and a half pound
range. Crappie is regarded by many as the most flavorful
table fish of all the freshwater species, and since it is relatively
easy to catch, it is among the most poplar species for which to fish
nation wide.
Crappie are found nation wide with white crappie living primarily in
rivers and lakes, with a few small ones found in streams.
They can live in turbid waters much more easily than can the black
crappie. The spawn occurs when the dogwoods begin to bloom,
usually in April.
