Baiting
Your Minnow Traps
After your trap is made
the next step is to select the bait you want to use to help attract the
minnows and draw them into your trap. The bait will be placed directly
in the trap and you can use bread, crackers, corn or even pet food as
minnow bait. Basically, they will eat most anything that is small
enough for them to consume.
Using traps to
catch your minnows not only saves you money but it can be a lot of fun.
You can experiment with different designs to see which ones produce the
best results and knowing that you are catching fish on the bait that
you caught yourself is very rewarding. Making minnow traps is a great
project for parents to share with their children. You can build the
traps together and then see just how many minnows you can catch with
your homemade device.
It is important to
keep in mind that not all states will allow you to use minnow traps.
For this reason it is vital that you check on the rules and regulations
of the state you reside in first, just in case. After catching a trap
full of minnows you are ready to go out and enjoy a great day on the
water fishing for your favorite species.
