Fishing researcher, Dan Eggertsen, answers a variety of questions concerning how you can catch crappie quickly and easily.

How To Use Crappie Lights To Catch A Ton

If you see swarms of mayflies around your lights, it is a good bet that the crappie are going to be interested in seeing mayflies on your hook. In fact, despite the popularity of the minnow or the jig, sometimes when you are light fishing at night, crappie will bite mayflies when they will not bite anything else.

If you want to fish using artificial bait, spinners with jigs and small jigging spoons work very well. Just keep your line slack and allow them to fall through the schools of baitfish that have come out to investigate your lights, and you are almost guaranteed a bite from a hungry crappie. The key to a successful night time crappie fishing expedition is to be sure your prep work has been done and you have found the best location and then just follow these simple suggestions for success!
