Which Techniques Work the Best?
 
Although you can use artificial lures to catch crappie when fishing in Lake Fork you will normally get better results by using minnows. This probably has a lot to do with the fact that minnows are the main natural food source for this area. Therefore, you should have a good supply with you when you go out to go along with those artificial lures. A combination of jigs and minnows can produce some great results.
 
Vertical fishing is actually the best technique to use anywhere that you fish for crappie on Lake Fork. This is especially true when you find the fish suspended in the water. Just drop the bait down below the crappie and then slowly pull it back up through the group of fish. Take your time and give them a chance to take the bait.
 
It is recommended that you use a slip cork when fishing in shallow water because it will make casting easier. It will also make it easy for you to set the depth of where you located the crappie. Many anglers believe that the color of the jigs can make a difference so it is recommended that you try different ones during the different times of the year to see which ones work the best for you in any given situation.
