Crappie are typically a smaller fish, weighing in anywhere from a half pound to a pound. Despite this, world record crappie have been recorded up to 6 times that size.
While records are not available for every crappie fishing area, here is a list of a few areas that world record crappie have been caught and recorded.
New Jersey- New Jersey’ state record for White Crappie is 2 pounds 14 ounces caught on Mill Pond by Dean Montemore in 2005.
New York- New York state record for White Crappie is 3 pounds 13 ounces, caught in Sleepy Hollow Lake by James R. Weinberg on June 9th, 2001.
Oklahoma- Oklahoma’s state record for White Crappie is 4 pounds 15 ounces, caught on a private pond by Frank Robinson May 4th, 1991.
Oregon- Oregon’s state record for White Crappie is 4 pounds 12 ounces, caught on Gerber Reservoir by Jim Duckett in 1967.
South Carolina- South Carolina’s state record for White Crappie 5 pounds 1 ounces caught by Mrs. H.P. Owens in 1949.
South Dakota- South Dakota’s state record for White Crappie is 3 pounds 9 ounces, caught on a private pond by Gary Ernst in April 28th, 1974.
Texas- Texas state record for White Crappie is 4 pounds 9 ounces, caught by G.G. Wooderson in Feburary 14th, 1968.
Virginia- Virginia’s biggest crappie ever recorded was caught
in a private pond by Justin Elliot. The Crappie, weighing 4 pounds,
10 ounces was caught on April 24th, 1994.
