I live very close to pigeon lake up here in Ontario Canada. Amazingly, I’ve never gone fishing there, but I’d like to try for some crappie. What do the reports say, and what bait would be best?
Pigeon Lake is one of the most pristine and pleasant lakes in British Columbia. This reservoir boasts a large variety of fish, and it is easy to see why the palatable crappie is a favorite of anglers every where after they first bite, but it is for black crappie you will be fishing at Pigeon Lake, and they should be fairly easy pickings. If you find yourself having the rare slow day, you could always try fishing the causeway over on the east side. As far as bait for crappie fishing on Pigeon Lake, you should rely on a two inch fin or tube shad in either chartreuse or white. Consider using about a 1/64 or 1/32 when choosing a hook for Pigeon Lake fishing. As is the case with crappie fishing everywhere, how you fish depends largely on factors such as weather, season, and water conditions, but if you concentrate on areas showing structure such as docks, downed trees and brush, and slower flowing areas, you should be in good shape this year when it comes to catching crappie on Pigeon Lake in Canada. If you are new to crappie fishing, compare it to fishing for other pan fish such as walleye or bass. You should be able to use basically the same kinds of natural baits and lures when fishing for crappie. Just using a worm with slip sinkers and choosing to use a standard bobber will show good results when crappie fishing in Pigeon Lake.
