How would I catch crappie in Deer Point Lake in Florida? Is it a good place to go?

Fishing for crappie in Deep Point Lake in Florida is a great idea!  In fact, this is an ideal location for many fishing adventures.  For those striving for crappie, there are some things to keep in mind when doing so.  First off, fish slow.  Realize that it takes time to catch the fish you want, especially in an area like this.

In Deer Point Lake, you will find that crappie are hitting crappie minnows well.  While you can catch them in just about any area of the lake, your best locations are going to be outside, in the deeper waters of the creeks that feed the lake itself.  Another choice is in Bayou George.  These areas provided the best results most recently.

The best times to fish in Deer Point Lake are in spring, even late winter.  Try using a slip bobber when crappie fishing here, as it is an ideal choice over minnows and worms.  Also, since crappie can be fairly large here, be sure to use the correct line.  Nothing less than a ten pound line should be used.  This will allow you to fish deeper and get the larger bites.

Deer Point Lake is well known as an ideal location to catch largemouth bass as well, especially in the channels of Bear, Econfina and Cedar.  Regardless of what you are after, the fishing here is plentiful.  Remember that fishing for crappie is a something you can do well with experience.  Deep Point Lake will give you a great deal of experience.
