Rod holders can be found in a variety of ways.  You can rent these, if you are new to the sport and just ‘trying it out’ or you can purchase your own.  If you decide to purchase your own pole holder, you can shop online, traditional retail, or mail order.  If you shop online, you can shop from places that specialize in fishing equipment such as Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops.  You can also shop online at eBay or other auction type sites.  Just be sure you know what you are bidding on and check prices before you bid when using these sites.  Another new option when shopping online is to shop at larger retailers that have sporting goods departments, such as Wal-Mart.

If you shop mail order, you can also purchase goods from Cabelas or Bass Pro shops, and many mail order catalogs may be shipped to you when you search for what you want online, and have the catalogs sent to you.  When you do this, you can purchase with check, money order, or credit card.  Just be sure you have a good return policy from a reputable establishment, and you should have good luck shopping this way.  Shopping retail is another option.  You can purchase sporting goods from a large department store that has a sporting goods department or a specialty store.  If you need advice, it is always good to shop specialty stores, because they tend to be able to offer you a range of knowledge it is difficult to find in other establishments.

Whenever you are looking for crappie before the spawn, trolling with multiple rods, allows you to cover more ground to locate and hook your catch.  Using a rod holder allows you to fish with more rods, and sweep a wider area.  Just use minnows or jigs, and try several varieties and colors until you find the ones right for you.  You can set your baits at different depths too.  This will help you quickly determine what is working best at your location, and for your conditions.
