What is the best Crappie Lake in Arkansas for March 21-28?
Well you are on the right track by fishing in the spring. But to really answer your question let us look at some key components. Temperature, temperature, temperature and of course lighting. In the spring the surface temperature of all bodies of water start to warm and this triggers a biological reaction in our favorite pan fish. When the shallow water temperatures start to hit the low to mid 60%u2019s (Fahrenheit) crappie begin their spawning season and just before this they really start eating. Knowing this gives you an advantage over that sneaky fish. Start with lakes that have lots of shallow areas. By shallow I am referring to waters that are less than 10 foot deep. Also look to waters that have lots of shelter like felled trees or recently flooded reservoirs. One of my favorite spots is a place where they add two or three dead Christmas trees every year, basically if you cast out and get a snag you are on the right track. One thing I do is I keep a rod and reel with a light line and a heavy, cheap jig that I consider disposable just to test and explore the waters. This lets me get an idea of the terrain without running the boat over the area and disturbing all the fish with the motor. But still I have not answered your question so check out this article here .
