good bait to catch fish

Crappies are one of the easiest fish to bait. You can use night crawlers, minnows, insects and corn. I do not think it is so much the bait that is important, as it is the technique and time of year you fish crappies. Whenever you fish, you should know the seasonal trends. For instance, spring and summer fishing differs as does winter and fall fishing. If you fish during spring, a smaller minnow or an insect will do find because the fish are eating smaller amounts. You know that spring is when the fish start moving more, but they have a little appetite after a long winter. You can offer medium size minnows during summer and fall months. Right before winter crappies will be feeding fast and aggressive. This is when you can offer a large minnow. The crappie as any other fish will seek larger bait because they need to get as much food before the water temperatures drop more. If you want to have a good day fishing in the spring, use smaller baits. The crappie males that are guarding the nest will bite at anything that comes near the eggs. This is when you can cast just about anything in the area and they are going to strike. Corn has also been a good bait for crappie. Anglers have had luck with corn during spawning. However, after the spawn, get something that is sizable to the crappie. The fish is not going to want something that is to large or too small depending on the season.
