What’s the best way to catch crappie in Dale Hollow?

The best way to catch crappie in Dale Hollow Lake is during February, March and April. Use long leader lines with jigs and a slow troll. If you find a school of shad, your best bet is to get your bait right around that area. The waters of this lake are clear, rocky and deep, which most anglers look at as not being good crappie fishing, but it is the best place to go. You can catch some nice sized crappie because for years, no one fished these areas for crappie. Now the fish are big and really to be caught. The only thing is that you have to fish for the Dale Hollow crappie differently than you do other lakes and rivers. Some anglers have compared fishing for crappies like fishing for stripers (the fish of course). The best way to do it is by slow trolling the waters. You will want to use a long lead, but the length will depend on what you are catching. You might have to shorten or lengthen the test line if one length is not working. The best thing to do is find the shad schools and then get ready to drop your line. Keep the troll down a slow troll. This means that two miles per hour will be the best. If you keep this up, you will have some great days of fishing the lake. Do not be surprised when you bring in some nice sized crappies out of this lake.
