Fishing researcher, Dan Eggertsen, answers a variety of questions concerning how you can catch crappie quickly and easily.

What type of rig should I use for crappie fishing?

Category: Uncategorized

I’m going to go out crappie fishing for the first time. What is a good beginner right for this?

As a beginner, having the right crappie fishing rig will be important. One of the first things that you can do is to have a quality rig. You may venture into any store to purchase them, but don’t go with the lowest value you find. You also do not want to go with the highest value either. Instead, for a beginner always look towards the middle price range. From that point, the next important thing to note for the beginner is that your style is likely to change over time. There are many factors that play a role in this. For those that want an easy set up that may be unique and not the obvious choice, consider one of these. The Texas rig, the Carolina rig or even the floating rig will be helpful. They also work well when you can’t seem to get crappie biting. For example, the Carolina rig is helpful. It requires that you have a main reel line, a six foot leader line, a barrel swivel as well as a brass bead and a weight. Of course you will need a hook as well. While this may seem complicated, it really is an effective way to go crappie fishing. The location of the fishing you are doing also matters. For example, if you will be looking for crappie in thick grasses, then you will want to choose an appropriate crappie fishing rig. A good option is the Carolina rig for this particular situation. Ultimately, you will find not only what works but what works best for you.
