What types of bait work in Ochoco Lake for crappie?

The best bait that I have found to work on Ochoco Lake is the minnows. Live minnows will provide you with more bites than a plastic minnow. The fish just seem to know the difference. Local anglers use the live minnows with success. If you fish the crappie at night after the sun goes down, you can use the crappie lights in the water to attract the insects, which in turn will attract the crappies to feed. Once you have them there, just add the bait and you will have a good night of fishing. Early morning hours are good for fishing in the same way. Wherever you see insects on the water top is where you will find crappies if the time is right. The one thing that you don’t want to do is use insects in the lake since they are small and the crappies need to have the minnow bait that is filling. Since they eat the baitfish in the water al the time, they will come when they know the bait is present and even in distress when attached to the hook. If you get a chance to fish for crappies on this lake, you can fish from shore and have success. You can find the right area or make the area the right area by placing crappie lights. For the most part, the crappies are easy if you use the right bait, which is the minnows or insects on the water top to get the crappies to your bait.
