What’s the difference between catching a crappie fishing and perch fishing?

What’s the difference between catching a crappie fishing and perch fishing? Or are they the same?

The Crappie and Perch are two entirely different fish with entirely different habits. Some people call Crappie either %u201Cwhite perch%u201D or %u201Cspeckled perch%u201D. Both of these slang terms are not the correct identification for the Crappie. There are two kinds of crappie, the White Crappie and Black Crappie. As you can guess the Black Crappie is predominately black in color while the opposite hold true for the other variety. There is a difference in habitat between the two fish as well. White crappie are more common in the Southern United States and grow large than Black Crappie. Black Crappie inhabit lake in the Northern United States and generally are a more aggressive species. Both species of crappie are generally shallow water fish. The only time you will find them in deep water is when it is very hot. They both relate very well to wood. Standing or fallen timber are excellent area to fish for either of these species. The freshwater perch is correctly called the Yellow Perch. This fish is a member of the walleye family. In many ways it is much like a small version of the walleye. Perch are the primary forage fish for walleye. The only real similarity between Yellow Perch and Crappie is that they both have a maximum size of about two to three pounds. Yellow Perch, especially jumbo perch, are caught fishing very deep. Typically they will inhabit some of the deepest areas of a lake. They prefer a rocky or gravel bottom and can be caught with small minnows or pieces of worm.
